DETROIT, July 8 (UPI) -- Miguel Cabrera went 4-for-4 with two homers Tuesday in the Detroit Tigers' 9-2 victory over the Cleveland Indians.

Justin Verlander's (6-9) gave up two first-inning runs, but retired the final 14 hitters he faced in his seven-inning start. He has not allowed more than two runs in each of his past six outings, going 4-0 during that span.

Cabrera and Marcus Thames each drove in three runs with Thames and Ivan Rodriguez each getting a home run.

Jeremy Sowers' (0-5) gave up seven runs on 10 hits in 5 2/3 innings. Jhonny Peralta hit a two-run homer for Cleveland.
